our studio
Studio FARM is a landscape architecture firm located at the foothills to the Berkshires in Westfield, Massachusetts. Our practice is organized around clear vision, to design landscapes that steward life and elevate our experience of it.
Every person and every project has an impact on the environment and on our lives. These impacts can be positive or negative, and they accumulate across scales and systems. How we inhabit, use, and care for the land imparts a legacy that will shape the lives of many generations to come. We envision a land legacy of abundance, of diverse life, healthy food, coexistence with other species, habitable environments, and joyful spaces. Studio FARM was founded to partner with clients who wish to pursue such a legacy.
Our work takes inspiration from the agricultural systems, natural communities, cultural context, and built environs of project locales. We collaborate closely with our clients to craft unique outdoor spaces that address their needs, while cultivating a stewardship land ethic. Our design process is ecologically informed and iterative. We pair evocative hand graphics, computer renderings, and quantitative analysis to realize the potential of each landscape to foster joy, grow community, provide nourishment, and support the full spectrum of life that inhabits it.

our team
Christopher Ramage is a licensed landscape architect and the founding principal of studio FARM. Chris obtained his Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and previously studied agriculture and ecology at the University of Delaware. From an early age, Chris understood the power of landscapes to contribute solutions to our most pressing problems. It was first learned intuitively, from summers spent in his family's vegetable garden and exploring the creeks near his childhood home in Virginia. This early understanding of how landscapes affect our everyday lives continued to deepen over his years of study and practice.
Chris brings over 13 years of experience in agriculture, horticulture, construction, and design to his work. His research has been published and presented nationally, including at the American Society of Landscape Architects' 2023 National Conference. His design work has garnered awards from ASLA, MassInc's Gateway Cities Innovation Institute, and the Edmund M. Bacon Student Urban Design Competition. Prior to starting studio FARM, Chris worked as an associate and project manager at Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design, one of New England's leading residential design firms.
